Monitoring to Conserve Midwestern Birds
Greetings and welcome to the brand new Northern Forest Birds Working Group! As we continue to organize around shared goals and get acquainted with one another, we'd like to learn what great work you are doing. Please take a few moments to reply with a brief note summarizing any spring/summer avian work (research, management, surveys, questions of interest) you are undertaking in BCR 12.
I'm not doing any Forest Bird work now, but did organize 5 years of volunteer surveys in the past at Arcadia Dunes, a 3800 acre preserve in Northwest Lower Michigan (includes 2 miles of Lake Michigan coastal forest and straddles the Benzie/Manistee County line). I currently do grassland bird point counts at Arcadia Dunes, but am really more interested in forest birds. I am a volunteer preserve steward with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.
