Factors Influencing Detectability of Grassland Birds - Webinar Materials

Every biologist planning a bird survey will encounter questions about detection probability sooner or later.  Many factors affect the detectability of birds, but these factors can be difficult to quantify in field studies where the true number of birds is unknown.  Several researchers have tackled this problem through field experiments: placing speakers in field conditions to simulate the audio experience of a bird survey.  This webinar will review previous studies focusing on eastern hardwood and pine forests and detail results from a new study set in Midwestern grasslands.
